Four Relaunches, One Constant

effective has managed the Sesotec GmbH website since 2006 - across four relaunches and three CMS generations. The most recent switch to TYPO3 dissolved the country-domain structure that had grown over the years and equipped the editorial team with AI-assisted translation directly in the backend.

Customer Voice

WHAT THE CUSTOMER SAYS

"The digital world is changing fast - which makes it all the more valuable to have a true constant by your side for over two decades. 20 years, four relaunches and various technology changes have shown: with effective, you can simply rely on them. As a forward-thinking partner, effective has always helped us keep our website absolutely up to date and take a pioneering role in our industry. What we value about them is not just their high level of expertise and short response times, but above all the honest, down-to-earth collaboration on equal footing. We know each other, we trust each other, and we pull in the same direction. This is not an anonymous agency relationship, but a genuine, reliable partnership. Or as we say here in Lower Bavaria: 'It just fits.'"

Project

Industry: Mechanical engineering · foreign object detection, material sorting and analysis
Client: Sesotec GmbH, Schönberg
Scope: CMS generation change to TYPO3, consolidation of country TLDs, AI-assisted translation, ongoing operations and support
Region: International, eight language versions

Every Relaunch Became a Series

For years, the online presence was spread across separate country TLDs. Each domain came with its own content, its own editorial status and its own redirects. As a result, a relaunch was never a single project, but a chain of individual migrations: in 2010 and 2015/2016, the transition each dragged on for months, with old and new generations running in parallel. In 2024, a change across the language boundary was added, moving back from Ruby on Rails to PHP.

Consolidation Instead of Repetition

The country sites were merged and now exist as language versions under sesotec.com - one domain, one template set, one editorial environment. What needed to be resolved: content duplication between the previous sites, an hreflang concept across all versions, and a redirect concept that maps not only the Locomotive URLs but also the addresses from the generations before that. Ongoing operations were not interrupted, and search visibility did not drop.

Results

  • Eight language versions under sesotec.com, retired country TLDs connected via redirect
  • Template structure with consistent page types for products, applications, industries, references and knowledge content - language versions remain comparable, expansions plannable
  • T3AI in the TYPO3 backend: draft translations right where the editorial team already works. The machine drafts, the human approves.
  • DAM, CRM and other specialist applications connected, Matomo Tag Manager and Analytics under own control
  • Support with a fixed circle of contacts and documented history across all generations

For comparison:
During the 2010 and 2015/2016 relaunches, each country domain had to move individually. The next generation change will affect only one domain.
